Microsoft is trying to out iPhone the iPhone. The software company, not renowned for its slick interfaces, has built a piece of equipment that will turn any flat surface into a giant touch-sensitive screen. Michael Arrington, of the TechCrunch blog,...

At yesterday's Organisational Review meeting here in the hallowed halls, we had a presentation from our Multimedia Producer, Daniel Bird, about the making of Onslaught(er) -- the Dove parody ad that the Wall Street Journal credits with flipping Unilever into taking action on their products' role in forest destruction. Now, when a campaign like this puts eight months of preparation into ten days of...

So we've discussed how much they pay. But are they any good? Actually, I think maybe they are now. Here's the new spot for Drench mineral water. Puppets are funny. Fact. Okay so it drags a tiny bit - the 60 is probably better than the 90 - but the sight of Brains grabbing his crown jewels is not one I'll forget in a hurry. Even logic-fans will be thrilled, because all that lovely entertainment is fully...

Alex Hilton and Mike Ion 's use of this video demonstrates just how desperate Labour is becoming. So there are a few 'Toffs' in the Conservative Party. Hardly breaking news. Sure, some 'Toffs' are insufferable snobs, but those who practice an inverted snobbery are no better.

Tom Lehrer is 80 today. Which is nice, since when I saw references to him on other blogs I assumed he’d died. Sheer genius. I’m entertained by this comment from CT: The world really needs more like him – brilliant math teachers who are brilliant parodists and public intellectuals on the side. Yes, this is precisely what the [...]

Some of us have trouble storing things and then retrieving them effectively, whether they be pair of socks or relatives' birthdays. I am therefore extremely impressed by the physicists who successfully stored nothing, and then successfully retrieved it . I feel an IgNobel coming on, though of course when this stuff turns into the basis of every computer in the world maybe they'll get a real Nobel....
