Sort of stunning really, isn't it? No cameras were used in the production of this video for Radiohead's "House of Cards". What you're looking at is data - ether my friends, it doesn't even exist...

Now that the extravagant "flowers" bill has come down, EMI's turnaround certainly looks on track. The label may not have to report its earnings publicly since it was taken private by Guy Hands' Terra Firma, but Hands sent a letter to staff to say it clocked Q1 pre-tax earnings of £59.2 million, Reuters noted - up from Q107's £47.1 million loss . Revenue in the quarter was up 61 percent to £288.1 million....

Radiohead 's new video for "House of Cards" was shot without using cameras or lights. Director James Frost used two new technologies to capture detailed 3D images instead. From Google Code (where you can download all the data and make use of some of the visualisation tools that the production team used!): "No cameras or lights were used. Instead two technologies were used to capture 3D images: Geometric...

I loved reading this post on Radiohead’s video for ‘House of Cards’ (see it on Youtube). The dominant narrative of data visualisation at the moment is informed by the networked optimism of web 2.0, where the social sphere, and increasingly the world as a whole, is unproblematically digitised; where more is more and truth, beauty, and [...]

Today I have been getting spaced out watching the video of Radiohead's House of Cards . For those who don't know, the video was made using '3D plotting technologies', rather than cameras and lights. For more information on the technique used, see here , and for the full 3D experience, have a look at the viewer , where you can manipulate the images. Cool or what? Here's the video:

Radiohead's camera-free video for House of Cards went live this week, and by golly it's a treat, like the Matrix seen through a pinpression board: There's a full page up at Google Code about this, including a genuinely interesting Making...

I don’t even like Radiohead that much. I think they’re pretty good but I don’t own any of their CDs. However they (and their fans) keep on doing such great videos. This one was made entirely using a laser scanner to generate 3D points rendering a kind of ephemeral flickering ghost world.

I’m undecided about this one at the moment - it seems a bit too much of a divergence from the stuff I love from them. However, I did grow to love Flux, so here’s hoping this one grows on me.

I remember playing around with a non-contact digitser (3d scanner) at uni and thinking it was cool, but I never got to do anything with it - so well done for these Loonaversity dudes for taking it to the Head.
More interesting that that even is making of video here:

I often go around this place moaning and whinging and cursing about how this business is a "house of cards". Just one false move and it will all fall down. I could tell you exactly what my problems are, but...
