The Nats' latest target : FIRST they forced Cathy Jamieson to stick a cork in it, and now the monks of Buckfast Abbey have demanded a vow of silence from her successor. The distributors of the tonic wine have expressed their anger after Kenny MacAskill referred to 'Buckie' in a parliamentary debate aimed at curbing irresponsible drinking and anti-social behaviour. The distributors of Buckfast, which...

It doesn't matter what they do at the moment, but Labour just can't seem to get it right. I suppose we should really give Iain Gray a chance, but I'm not sure he has what it takes to bring people to Labour. I think Cathy Jamieson, despite her faux pas last Thursday would have been better in terms of portraying that Labour actually understands what's happening in people's lives at the moment. However,...

In the end, then, a clear victory. As expected, Iain Gray sustained a comfortable lead in the elected members section: MPs, MSPs and MEPs. But, crucially, he also defeated Cathy Jamieson by a decent margin in the section of the ballot reserved for grassroots party members. As billed, here and elsewhere, Ms Jamieson came top in the union and affiliates sector - but only just. He has an evident mandate...

Bring back Wendy. That’s all I can say after a shoddy and shabby performance by Cathy Jamieson at today’s First Minister’s Questions. It’s debatable whether matters of internal party discipline are really suitable fodder for FMQ’s. However, despite the injunctions of the Presiding Officer, I’m inclined towards the view that you should be able to raise whatever subject you like and to take the plaudits...

I think Cathy Jamieson could learn a lot from sitting down and watching the DVD of The War Room, the inside story of the Clinton Campaign in 1992. This was where we got to see, posted on the wall, a scrap of paper with "It's the Economy, stoopid". It was there to remind people that what people were really bothered about was would their job be safe? Could they afford to pay their mortgage? Would they...

Ok so Alex Samond has announced his plans for the next year. Including what the BBC seem to automatically assume is a replacement of Council Tax with a 3p flat rate Scottish National Income Tax. Cathy Jamieson seems to think that by calling the bill the replace Council Tax an Abolition of Council Tax Bill somehow that created a fairer tax is something to be ashamed off, or at least the name Local...

We had already established her commitment to the cause , especially her support for the principles of the People's Rail Campaign.
