Dafydd Iwan has won the contest to become Plaid Cymru's president, despite my objections to his previous stint as president and his ludicrous support for the anti-St Athan development I offer my congratulations. He was never going to lose really but I think Elfyn Llwyd made a reasonable fight and impressed. Let's hope Dafydd follows up on his promises and takes note of the issues brought up although...

So Dafydd Iwan has beaten Elfyn Llwyd MP to retain his position as Plaid Cymru President - no shock there. I note that Plaid's official release does not contain the actual figures, possibly to save some of Elfyn's blushes ( Dafydd Iwan was expected to win by a landslide). Apart from being one of the most un remarkable and uninteresting "leadership" election in history (Plaid's President holds no leadership...

Yn groes i'r hyn yr awgrymais 'chydig fisoedd yn ol mae'n ymddangos mai methiant fydd ymdrech Elfyn Llwyd i enill Llywyddiaeth Plaid Cymru. Yn ol son y gwybodision ac aelodau o'r Blaid dwi yn eu hadnabod mae'n edrych fel y bydd Dafydd Iwan yn enill a hynny yn rhanol am y ffaith iddo ddenu cefnogaeth gref iawn mewn ardaloedd yn Ne Cymru. O gofio mai Dafydd oedd un o benseiri canlyniad hynod o siomedig...

Another gimmick by Plaid ? Obviously. THE new president of Plaid Cymru will be announced by text message tomorrow afternoon. Party members will be told around 4.30pm whether veteran campaigner Dafydd Iwan or parliament leader Elfyn Llwyd has won the election. Plaid was inspired by Barack Obama’s use of texting to tell supporters Joe Biden was his running-mate. Given the mobile phone coverage in certain...

Up to 8,500 former members of the armed forces are serving sentences in UK prisons, it has been claimed. Probation staff union Napo said its figures suggested about one in every 11 prisoners used to be in the forces. It has led the union and Plaid Cymru MP Elfyn Llwyd to claim there is a lack of support for ex-service personnel. The Ministry of Defence said it worked closely with charities to support...

Bore ddoe bum mewn cyfarfod gyda rheolwyr y gwasanaeth ambiwlans Cymreig i drafod methianau'r gwasanaeth yma yn y Blaenau dros yr wythnosau diwethaf - mater sydd yn bryder i lawer o drigolion y cylch. Yno hefyd oedd y Cynghorydd Arthur Holland Williams, Elfyn Llwyd AS a Dafydd Elis Thomas AC. Cafwyd cyfarfod agored iawn ac fe gefais atebion i sawl gwestiwn codais gyda'r rheolwyr ac dwi'n meddwl ei...

Translation of a post by Dyfrig Jones: It's a bit of a stretch to say that i'm close bosom friends with Elfyn Llwyd, but there's a family connection going back for years. To be honest, I like Elfyn a lot, both as a person and as a politician. In contrast to quite a few MPs, he has succeeded in serving his constituency - and his nation - in Westminster without forgetting how to be a normal person

Welsh Labour's conspicuous absence in Plaid's recent One Wales celebratory video was noted. Yesterday Gordon Brown returned the favour: Mr. Elfyn Llwyd (Meirionnydd Nant Conwy) (PC): Does the Prime Minister believe that his party’s wilting membership in Wales and my party’s increasing membership in Wales are due to the coalition between Plaid Cymru and Labour in the National Assembly, or to his leadership...
