Previous Lib Dem leaders, e.g. the likable Charles Kennedy, tried, even when their members didn't, to keep personal attacks on their opponents out of the political arena. So it was rather sad to hear Nick Clegg spending most of his conference speech making nasty personal attacks on David Cameron. Hunter wonders if, after these ill-advised attacks, the Lib Dems poll position (12% in a poll out today)...

Remember Charles Kennedy getting in a terrible muddle during an election campaign over the details of his party's local income tax? We now know that he was probably suffering from a bad hangover at the time. Then there was George Bush, during a a Presidential election, being asked to name the President of Pakistan and only managing to repeat "He's a General.....he's a General....." Both these

Have just been to the stewards' reception with Charles Kennedy. It was nice to be about two metres away from Chuckie K as he told us all what a fantastic job we'd been doing, even if we are, at this point, too poor to afford a drink to toast him with (lunch today left us with a total of three quid) . Paddy Ashdown was also kicking about and Andrew Neil was filming stuff. I chickened out of thrusting...

Kendall argues that given current circumstances Nick Clegg and the Party have a difficult task ahead in balancing being seen as a radical voice on civil liberties with the need to appear serious and credible in terms

Courtesy of The Herald : I once asked Tony Blair how he found being Labour leader while in opposition compared with being in government. He remarked that he would wake up each morning in opposition and ask himself: "What do I have to say today?" In government, he awoke to the thought: "What do I have to do today?" If you are a LibDem leader you arouse yourself with the frustration of wondering what...

Popular teen magazine 'Teens' did a similar survey but had different results from the seven...
