The thwarted aspirations of the man who discarded both The Kama Sutra for Dummies and How To Be a Gentleman in Seven Days in a Southampton hotel room can only be imagined, but sex manuals were just the tip of the reject pile in budget hotels this summer

John Prescott, Cherie Blair and Russell Brand are in a hotel room. No, not the start of a bad joke but the results of a report into abandoned books. Hotel chain Travelodge says over 7,000 books are left in their rooms each year and over...

Do take a read of Waking Hereward on the scandal that is John Prescott's Pathfinder project. Here's an extract, that expresses Waking Hereward's views and not necessarily mine: "In all, some 15,000 houses in the Anfield area of the city are empty. It’s the result of the Lib-Dem council (voted the worst run council in the entire country) trousering the cash from central government to help the moron...

Now Jack Straw has come out with this: "The question for the country is who is better to take us through this turbulent period? "Is it an experienced pilot and...

Over on the Telegraph comment section, Charles Clover buys into the immigration scam. This column is no fan of John Prescott. But I was reminded that he could have moments of lucidity when an EU study pronounced this week that Britain could have a population of 77 million, the largest in Europe, in 50 years time. The reality is that Britain's population growth is barely at replacement level - any increase...

When I was young and on a visit to the US, I was taken to a rodeo. I watched the cowboys mount angry bulls which were then released together into the arena. A violent dance then began with the bull trying to buck the cowboy from his back and the cowboy holding on for dear life or at least for dear prize money or bravado. If the bull was successful and the cowboy came crashing to the ground, the bull...
