I was sad to read on The Hive that Deputy MFAT Secretary Alan Williams has died of cancer. Alan was the PM's foreign policy advisor in DPMC for many years, including during my couple of years in the PMO. He was hugely regarded by absolutely everyone and handled all sorts of crisis's with serenity.
