Labour's Awale Olad,a local youth worker, has been making a splash in the local press with an article in the Camden Gazette and a letter in the Camden New Journal . Meanwhile the Greens seem to be slipping due to their failure to choose local Sian Berry - who may have been in a strong position to win had she stood. The election, as Labour's Tulip Siddiq writes , was caused by the cover-up surrounding...

Goodbye Sian Berry, the 150th anniversary of Emmeline Pankhurst plus Tom Quinn, our Mormon correspondent, heads back to the States. And some strange memories of Madam Tussauds... First my thanks to Sian Berry who has been a regular contributor on newstatesman.com since we relaunched on 30 November 2006. Having spent a great deal of the past 18 months in the public eye as Green co-principal speaker...

Since newstatesman.com relaunched on 30 November 2006 Sian Berry has been a regular contributor on her blog. Now she heads off to a new role at the Green Party so is stepping down... Yes, I know I promised to file a blog on eco-towns a fortnight ago. However, I have to confess I was tempted into moonlighting it away to the Telegraph, who are running a series of stories on what they are calling Gordon's...

Sian Berry: It's tempting to lay into Boris for scrapping the £25 CO2 charge, but I have some more important questions for him

It's not often I find myself agreeing with someone from the Green Party, but Siân Berry makes some sense regarding the ridiculous "eco-town" idea. My view is that they would end up being little more than car-heavy satellite suburbs. And, in the months since 15 locations were shortlisted for these developments, I have been pleased to see an impressive range of local campaigns springing up in opposition....

Time and financial considerations meant I was only able to attend the first day of the Hands of the People of Iran weekend school, but certainly day one was absolutely excellent. My day started slightly surreally as I met Sian Berry and Jim Killock going the other way and was on the same train to London as Tony Juniper who was attending a different conference (Liam's report on that here ). One welcome...

Hackney blogger Luke Ackhurst has published a list of the wards in which the main candidates recorded their highest levels of support. Brockley and Ladywell reasserted their status as hotbeds of Green politics, by giving candidate Sian Berry her second and sixth highest proportions of the vote. Top six highest votes for Sian Berry (Green Party): 1. Highgate, Camden: 10.68 2. Brockley, Lewisham: 9.66...

I thought who is this drunk loud guy sat behind us, it was one of those TV political award shows....I went along with Sian Berry (then female Principala) and Jim Killock. He was very interested in Sian . It turned out to be Guido Fawkes, 'top tory blogger' once in the rather nasty Federation of Young Conservatives...their slogan was 'Hang Nelson Mandela' rather than 'Vote Blue - get Green'. The photo...

I don't know. I go away on holiday for a week and all hell breaks out. Amazingly, from my viewpoint, Boris is now the Mayor for London. I was convinced that red Ken's deal with Siân Berry's communist party would tip the balance in his favour, but, despite the best efforts of the Guardian, this [...]

With the honourable exception of Norwich, where they now lead the opposition, the Greens did not cover themselves in glory in last week's elections. In London, where the contest was dominated by the Johnson-Livingstone duel, Sian Berry made a creditable showing. Across the country, though, the Greens generally fell back in those seats they also contested last year.

Remember the Ken Livingstone / Sian Berry announcement that they were encouraging their supporters to give the second preference vote to one another. Well, it appears Sian Berry was rather foolish to trust Ken Livingstone. Iain Dale has found the following leaflet in which Ken encourages voters to put him as first and (irrelevantly) as second preference. The Greens can't be happy.

…from the Independent : Sian Berry, for the Greens, on the other hand, has been an articulate, imaginative and effective advocate for her cause. With her programme for a greener London, with more cycle-lanes, cheaper public transport, more small shops and eco-friendly housing, she has come across as a forward-looking politician, committed to a better quality of London life. We hope she can continue...

Recieved here via the new look Harry's place who nicked them from Socialist Unity. I didn't realise Gorgeous George was on the ballot paper so I shall be putting Ken first and Sian Berry 2nd. Hopefuly no distribution of Ken's second places will be needed so it'll be irrelevant anyway. But that'll only happen if [...]
