I note that Iain Dale has introduced Guest Bloggers at the rate of one per day for the summer, is broadening the offering on his political blog with a wide-range of Guest Posts over the last few days. By Robin Tilbrook, Leader of the English Democrats I am very grateful to Iain for this opportunity to appear on his blog as his guest. Iain, whilst remaining always a loyal member of the Conservative Party (in its best traditions), has also been a good friend to the English Parliament cause. I also was once a Tory, having been so since my student days (and my father and grandfather before me!). I...

John Redwood writes another article condemning another small party for challenging the Tories; he finishes off with this paragraph. It is silly when we want so many of the same things there are so many scraps. The Eurosceptics will win when enough of us are united behind a strategy for getting powers back from Brussels, and having a different relationship with the EU that allows us to trade, be friends...
John Redwood asks why the English Democrats stood against David Davis in the by-election, and wonders why they would want to stand against an obvious Eurosceptic or his party, a party which has voted No to Nice, No to Amsterdam and No to Lisbon. Implying that if they stood against Conservative in a general [...]
I thought I heard the English Democrats lost their deposit. I went to cricket and only checked the figures later. The argument remains true, that trying to make Eurosceptic points by splitting the Eurosceptic vote in other situations is self defeating. It is also interesting that in a by election where the outcome would not change [...]

The close-of-poll predictions last night proved to be pretty accurate: David Davis easily won in yesterday’s Haltemprice and Howden by-election, with a solid 72% of the vote. The turnout was 34%, and the Greens pipped the English Democrats to second place by 44 votes, both polling 7%. No other candidates retained their deposits. • David Michael [...]
Unsurprisingly David Davis has held his seat in Haltemprice and Howden in what was a much lower key by-election than anticipated. Thankfully the Greens beat the English Democrats (following them beating the BNP in Henley the other week)
What is it about the English Democracts that they revel in losing their deposit? Why on earth did they stand against Eurosceptic Conservative, David Davis, in the by-election, only to be hammered again? Don’t they see that it gives our joint enemies, the Eurofederalists, more ammunition when the English Democrats stand on a staunchly Eurosceptic ticket [...]
Full coverage of UK Politics What price freedom? About a tenner a head, if you live in Haltemprice and Howden. David Davis is exultant at his triumphant defeat of the Greens, the English Democrats and the Church of the Militant Elvis et al. But what would fiscally-responsible Conservatives make of the costs of the whole exercise? There were a total of 23,91...
Turnout down to less than 35% The count is continuing in Halteprice and Howden with the result expected after 2am. one piece of information comes in a report in the Yorkshire Post suggesting a share of 75% for Davis with reasonable showing for the Green, the English Democrats and the victims rights campaigner Jill Saward. If the [...]
English Democrats Harassed by Police for Flying the Flag From the desk of A. Millar on Fri, 2008-06-27 17:10 Threats of prosecution or fines for flying the England flag in England is not new, and perhaps it should come as no surprise, then, that the English Democrats party – which uses the flag in its promotional material – is reporting that it has become a target of such intimidation. Yet it
What kind of ignorant fascist twits behave like this? From The Brussels Journal : Threats of prosecution or fines for flying the England flag in England is not new, and perhaps it should come as no surprise, then, that the English Democrats party – which uses the flag in its promotional material – is reporting that it has become a target of such intimidation. Yet it is different for one very significant...
