He soon could be due to his directorship at construction giant, Vinci Plc . Even if Davies has no direct involvement with MOD construction projects in his new role as Minister for Defence Equipment & Support, it could still look a bit embarrassing/iffy when one of Vinci's numerous construction or property management companies wins an MOD contract. The £41 million contract recently awarded to...

Oh it gets better and better, James Gordon Brown after bringing back Mandelson - the one who claimed he was gay according to Levy's book - also decided to get some chap who posted a pic of himself in his underpants to an important post; now this: He has been given a job by Gordon Brown. Yep, the former Tory who pissed off when he thought that Brown was a winner and who described Gordon like this only...

The government reshuffle is now complete . And the big news is... that Quentin Davies has been given a job at the Ministry of Defence. I assume it is as a junior minister. All I can say, is that a man less likely to make it as a minister I have yet to meet. I do not envy John Hutton's task in embedding him into a Ministerial team. But it should be entertaining for the rest of us.

Partial list of junior appointments confirmed. No job for Cruddas or Blunkett (which suggests that No. 10 still hasn't got the hang of suppressing speculation properly). Quentin Davies gets MoD role. Ministerial Ranks Outside Cabinet are as follows: Phil Woolas - Immigration Minister Vernon Coaker - Police Minister Pat McFadden - Business Secretary deputy Quentin Davies - junior post in the Ministry...

Spare a moment once again for Quentin Davies, the man who last year had the sense of judgement to leave the Conservatives for the socialists, simultaneously accusing Dave of "unreliability and an apparent lack of any clear convictions" . Praising at the same time Gordon "a leader I have always greatly admired, who I believe is entirely straightforward, and who has a towering record, and a clear vision...

MP Quentin Davies has called for the resignation of Lincolnshire Police Authority after they were 'capped' for trying to impose the highest council tax precept in the country. Last week, the Government stepped in and halted the massive 78.9% increase, cutting it to 26% - and giving every ratepayer in Lincolnshire a refund of some £70. Mr Davies is angry at what he calls the Authority's complete irresponsibility...

Yesterday it was Charles Clarke being talked up as about to challenge Gordon Brown for leadership of the Labour Party. Today it is Alan Milburn. Tomorrow, who knows? Perhaps Frank Field and Quentin Davies could launch a dream ticket.

The recommendations in Quentin Davies' report on boosting public support and appreciation for our Armed Forces have a rather familiar feel to them. We learned last month that the idea of a public holiday to honour the Armed Services has already won the support of the Prime Minister. And the report's other major proposals – extending school cadet forces, encouraging servicemen and women to wear their...

The Government's got a thing about discrimination laws. It's almost a fetish, part of the wider addiction to egalitarianism, which like any addiction, comes at the cost of everything else. Usually, in the case of discrimination law, it's liberty. Quentin Davies (the Tory-to-Labour rat party-hopper) has released a "study" that calls for "legislation making discrimination directed at those wearing military...

A report by Quentin Davies, who defected from Daveybloke's Cuddly Conservatives because they weren't right-wing enough and who might now be forgiven for emulating Winston Churchill's famous attachment to party loyalty and crawling back home again, recommends the "creation of a new public holiday in June" to celebrate war, and the implementation of a new law to make it a criminal offence to
