Filed under: Bulls , Eastern , Chicago When Ben Wallace, Joe Smith and Adrian Griffin were shipped off at the trade deadline, my colleague Tom Ziller (tongue-in-cheek) lamented the loss of the Veteran Discipline Committee to keep Tyrus Thomas and Joakim Noah in check. But maybe there was something to that ... G.M. John Paxson suspened second-year forward Tyrus Thomas two games for an unexcused absence...

Will Ben Wallace’s arrival in Cleveland lessen the rivalry between the Pistons and Cavs? The Pistons don't think so. From the DetNews: “We still hate Cleveland,” Lindsey Hunter said, with no trace of a smile. “We didn't like Chicago (when Wallace was there), either. That's just the way it is.” Others weren't quite so sure. “It's [...]

I was much more excited for this game before Friday night. National TV (which I don't care about the 'exposure', just a chance to hear different broadcast crews), against a 'rival' who now has one of the most reviled players in team history. Honestly, how great will it be to watch Ben Wallace do whatever he does in another uniform? Or will he save his good games for the Bulls like he used to for us...

Yes, Danny Ferry knows the doomsday clock is ticking. Twenty-eight months, twenty-seven months. And he knows when that clock hits zero, on July 1, 2010, LeBron James can make or break the Cavaliers’ franchise. That's when James can sign a long-term contract that will keep him there for the foreseeable future. Or, he can take one of Jay-Z’s Gulfstream jets to the news conference so many people think...

Ira Newble was dealt to the Seattle Supersonics in the 11-player, 3-team trade that netted the Cavaliers Wally Szczerbiak, Delonte West, Ben Wallace and Joe Smith. At the time of the deal, I remember thinking that Ira Newble may have found himself in a scenario that would end his NBA career as a player with any [...]

CLEVELAND -- In his first year as owner of the Cavaliers, in 2005, Dan Gilbert used to lust after Ben Wallace. Gilbert had been a main sponsor of the Pistons, and having seen Wallace's impact, he would talk of bringing Wallace or a hyperactive center like him to the Cavs.

The pregame introductions at Cleveland's Quicken Loans Arena on Sunday were both uplifting and symbolic for the Cavaliers, the latest contenders to undergo a midseason makeover. An Obamaesque roar of hope rose when center Ben Wallace was announced, and as the 33-year-old danced onto the court, he looked younger than he had for much of this season with the Bulls, who unloaded him in a three-team, 11-player...
