Writing in a book entitled 'Politics in the 21st century' Rhodri Morgan has insisted that the Labour Party must become more 'Welsh'. Martin Shipton's report on this in today's Western Mail is here . This has been interpreted by some as being a veiled attack on Don Touhig , Alun Michael and Kim Howells. What occurred to me was the question 'What does he mean by this'? Firstly he refers to a 'perception'...

This morning's Western Mail reports on Rhodri Morgan's acceptance that many of his party's politicians are anti-Welsh. While he doesn't mention them by name, he is no doubt referring to Don Touhig, Alun Michael and Kim Howells: Stop being anti-Welsh, Rhodri urges his party LABOUR will never win a majority in Wales again unless the party reverses the public’s perception that it is anti-Welsh, Rhodri...

I'm not a big fan of Don Touhig. In actual fact, I think he is dam right awful and a disgrace to the Labour Party. His most recent spat has been to offend women in a leaflet he has distributed to constituents. He's an idiot, a liability and a smear on Welsh Labour. He should be asked to step down as MP for Islwyn or have the whip withdrawn. Welsh Labour will never move forward as a post-devolution...

I cannot believe this article in the Western Mail , has Don Touhig lost it? "AN MP has been accused of living in a 1950s time warp after referring to “housewives” worrying about food prices and “blokes who need their car for work” in a message to his constituents. Islwyn Labour MP Don Touhig, a former newspaper editor who won the seat at a by-election in 1995 after Neil Kinnock resigned to become a...

Gordon Brown will doubtless appreciate today's professions of loyalty from his Welsh flock. Don Touhig and Chris Bryant are among twenty backbenchers who've signed a letter to their colleagues urging them to stand up and be counted as loyal supporters of the Prime Minister. Letter-writing is something of a habit for Mr Bryant at this time of year . His last letter was accompanied by a number of resignations...

...please read this at Cambria Politico. Robert Winnett, Deputy Political Editor of the Daily Telegraph has disclosed that the Islwyn MP ‘made the windfall profit on his Westminster flat which was bought in 1998 and sold for more than double the amount in 2007.’ Touhig sold the flat last year for £305,000. Records do not show how much he paid for the property which he is understood to have claimed...

No wonder devo-sceptic and arch-nationalistophobe Don Touhig and his Labour MP chums aren’t keen to cut the knot with Westminster. They’ve so much to lose. Not only are they members of one of the UK’s smartest, richest and most exclusive clubs - hobnobbing with the ‘great and good’ the likes of [...]

The blog has been quite non existent of late but I have been spurred into writing again but the now well documented comments by Don Touhig . Firstly let me say I totally agree with the Islwyn MP’s comments. I genuinely do feel as if Plaid has been running rings around Labour. Whilst I do not necessarily believe that national issues always have a direct impact on council elections I do think they played...

Was Don Touhig ever a fan of the deal his party struck with Plaid Cymru to stay in government? No, of course he wasn't. Is the fact that he's making his distate for it public? No, of course it isn't. He was firmly opposed to the idea then and is no more a fan of it now. But this time he isn't saying quite the same thing. He's not saying he doesn't like the deal. He's saying that over the past twelve...

I'm sure that Sir Emyr Jones-Parry is a perfectly decent person who doesn't need a sat nav to find his way around Wales. Don Touhig's campaign of kicking the man not the ball by being rude about Sir Emyr is un-needed, unacceptable and probably harm's Mr Touhig's view more than it harms Sir Emyr. However, having said that I do agree with some of Mr Touhig's doubts about The Convention. In theory
