The government's climate change committee has called for at least an 80 per cent cut in the UK's carbon emissions by 2050, including those from aviation and shipping. Ministers are already committed to a 60 per cent cut by that date, but Gordon Brown had asked the committee to advise whether this needed to be increased in order to make a significant contribution to the fight against global warming....
