Douglas Alexander moral cretin.

Douglas Alexander, the first cabinet minister to visit India's poorest state, Bihar, said that despite "real strides in economic growth" there were still 828 million people living on less than $2 a day in India. So he is happy that we are spending £825 million on aid to India. Most of which will be ending up in the Swiss and off shore bank accounts of corrupt officials. Not a thought...

We want to make poverty history but failure at Copenhagen will make poverty the future

By Douglas Alexander MP Climate change is a defining political test of our era. As leaders gather for the European Council meetings today, a deal at the Copenhagen conference hangs in the balance. But I believe that getting the right global deal on carbon could be more vital to tackling global poverty than even the Gleneagles summit of 2005. Climate change is not some future possibility for many of...

Mocking Global Warming Here is a great...

Mocking Global Warming Here is a great new ad by the "Canadian Tourism Federation" that mocks "Global Warming" by saying Canada's "C02" emissions are rising faster than any other G8 country. But, "the bright side" they said is, "A warmer Canada is the perfect place for your next family holiday." The real climate change catastrophe - Telegraph Thanks...

Rudduck: She's Not a Perfect (or Complete) 10:10

One of the most cited reasons from the Labour benches in yesterday's Climate Change (Political Response) debate was how well the Government had done since 1990. Indeed the Minister Joan Ruddock said : "Since 1990, greenhouse gas emissions in the UK have reduced by 18 per cent., or 21 per cent. if we add in the reductions made through the European Union emissions trading scheme, but we are in...

Petition to the United Nations: In September 2009, Fallujah General Hospital had 170 new born babies, 24% of whom were dead within the first seven days, a staggering 75% of the dead babies were classified as deformed. This can be compared with data from the month of August in 2002 where there were 530 new born babies of whom six were dead within the first seven days and only one birth defect was reported....

Export USA: WMD

Young women in Fallujah, Iraq are terrified of having children because of the increasing number of babies born grotesquely deformed, with no heads, two heads, a single eye in their foreheads, scaly bodies, or missing limbs. In addition, young children in Fallujah are now experiencing hideous cancers and leukaemias. These deformities are now well documented, for example in television documentaries on...

Personally, I blame the kids

The Labour MP and former minister Malcolm Wicks admitted yesterday that "there is a widespread perception that Labour... is intellectually exhausted". And, one might add, not just "intellectually exhausted". Exhausted full stop. Personally I blame the kids. No seriously. An interesting feature of the Blair and Brown governments is just how many leading ministers have young children...

Whom do I rate?

When the election comes, we shall be voting for our local representative and not for the entire party. That, at least, is the theory, although the whipping system means that we cannot ignore the party as a whole. At the time of the election, I plan to publish a post giving my own views on the manifesto commitments of each party, but I thought it might be an idea to give a thumbs up or down for (some...

With an influential grassroots calling for cuts, how safe would DFID be under the Tories?

By Allan Davies Much criticism has been made over recent months, especially from the Tory ranks , of the validity of the Department for International Development. This is despite Cameron’s intentions to ring fence the DfID budget. They argue that DfID is massively over-funded and is a department that has avoided having its budget reduced in this time of economic trouble. Iain Dale posts that...
