It's late, so some quick headlines from the "Politics Now" programme. Tavish Scott is interviewed by Michael Crow. Tavish has views, he: thinks Nicol Stephen has lost touch with the country. has no plan and no blueprint for taking the LibDems forward. is against constitutional change. is against a multi option referendum. will not commit to any policies when he is three years short of the next Holyrood...

There’s surely more to the story about Nicol Stephen resigning as leader of the Scottish Liberal Democrats. Previously he was Deputy First Minister of Scotland when the Lib Dems were in coalition government with the Scottish Labour Party. Being in opposition can’t seriously be more onerous than being in government. I remain a touch cynical about this. [...]

I know, I know. " Resigning to spend more time with his family ". Usually seen as a euphemism. Happens on this occasion to be true. Nicol Stephen has four young children - and has wrestled with the challenge of providing a stable family life while operating as leader and serving his Aberdeen constituency. He tried. The family moved to Edinburgh in order to permit a more stable domestic life. But he...
