Off to The Lowry in Salford Quays, Manchester, at the weekend to see a production of The Pitmen Painters. Written by Lee Hall, he of Billy Elliott fame, it is based on the true story of a group of miners from Ashington, who, inspired by a WEA lecture, took up painting themselves and became a feted artistic group. It was a good production, funny, poignant, moving at times and definitely worth seeing....

It may be 75 years since the Gresford Disaster but the implications of that day were so great they can still be felt. Wrexham FC is playing its game on Tuesday - on the anniversary of the accident - in memory of the 266 miners who died at Gresford Colliery on 22 September 1934. Many had been working a double or extra shift so they could have a day off to watch a Wrexham game the following Saturday....

I have been busy over the last few days editing like crazy the lovely wedding images from Layla and Nicks wedding....a very good looking couple so my job was incredibly easy! They married at the beautiful church All Saints Parish in Gresford then held their reception at the Pulford near Chester. There are not many weddings where the family and guests clap and cheer as the bride and groom walk together...
