Clarence Hotel, Llandudno

Ever quick off the mark the Weekly News have, at long last picked up not only my story of some weeks ago that the Castle Hotel in Conwy was for sale for £2.5m, omitting to say they make £250,000 per year, but also the saga of the Clarence hotel in Llandudno and it's many planning issues! Today there is a blatant lie being peddled by one of the tenants of the hotel. She states that it will remain as...

The rest of our vacation

Good news if you’ve seen enough: this is my last vacation slideshow post. As well as our beach time in Llanfairfechan we visited Conwy, Llandudno, Great Orme, Beaumaris, Caernarfon and walked to Aber Falls and Llyn Idwal. We also went inside Electric Mountain, a hydro-electric power station - very interesting and a good thing to do [...]

Not Known For Their Consistency!

It appears to be true, Conwy council has again lost an appeal at our financial expense against their refusal to grant the shop in Deganwy permission for a change of use to, you guessed it, A3, cafe. Their refusal stems for their long outdated district plan of 1982, yes you read it right, 1982!! What have they been doing since then? Can we at least have a new plan based on this millennium'? The Arsembly...

Magic Roundabouts!

"0/34986 Advert Consent Roundabout Adjacent to Tesco's Entrance, Llandudno Junction, Conwy Display of 4 no. Non-illuminated Free Standing Post-mounted Advertisment Advert Consent " Interesting to note that there is an application for advertising consent on the Tesco roundabout, wonder if the advert is for Asda? It is down for the planning committee to deliberate over, big stuff! On a more serious note,...

conwy, the forgotten jewel.

Well thats the last time I go to conwy for a long time. I had no idea that as well as road works blocking all routes from conwy to Llandudno ,routes are blocked into conwy. It cost one trader quite a few pounds, for I was so furious I came straight back out of the town. Without bothering going to the shop. I counted 5 vehicles including a school bus jumping a red light going across and at least 5 impeding...

The Weekend, One Stall and White Collar Footballers

My Name’s Rhys Wynne, but you can call me “One Stall” Rhys Wynne, as - after 3 lessons - I only stalled once on Saturday. I am finally beginning to “get” driving. My steering problems have been becoming more and more negliable, and I even braved Mostyn Street in Llandudno, as well as Conwy Road in [...]

Bound for Wales

I'm off to north Wales to do some photography around one of my old stopping grounds. I'll be staying in a village called Penmaenmawr which is where I used to stay in the days over a decade ago when I worked as the organiser for Conwy constituency. So I have just lugged the cameras across rush hour London to Euston station, having called in at a camera shop to buy camcorder tapes. Unfortunately, I
