The National Rail Live Arrival/ Departure boards at Marylebone state that there are currently no Jubilee or Metropolitan Line services operating from the station, due to engineering week. I have already mentioned that there is indeed much engineering work going on this weekend on the London Underground. This significantly affects most of North West London. However, for the avoidance of doubt, the fact...

A passenger plane headed for an airport in eastern Congo overshot the runway (spider solitaire) and ended up crash-landing in lava. Wicked! Of course, I'm making this cooler than it actually was because it wasn't molten lava and it wasn't in the middle of a volcano . Truthfully, I don't even know why I'm reporting this besides 1. I'm awesome and B. journalism. The plane was flying from Kinshasa to...

Another quirky aspect of London life are the ‘Baby on Board’ badges which were first tested out in 2005 at International Women’s Day events. Since then they have been introduced in Beijing as “to-be mum” badges, by the Beijing Municipal Health Bureau and also more recently in Tokyo. A simple but effective idea the badges can be picked up by any pregnant women at most London...

Scammy Oystercard system boosts London Underground revenues – at my expense This evening, I was surprised – and inconvenienced – to find my OysterCard had run out of credit. Again. I went to the ticket window and asked the woman to put £5 on it. “You’ve got a negative balance” she said after swiping the card. “What’s that'” [...]
