August, the traditional summer month, began in many parts of Scotland with heavy rain, causing flooding in some areas. Kilbirnie in Ayrshire was one of the worst effected towns, but Callander and Stirling were hit as well while parts of Dumfries and Galloway had problems with the heavy rainfall too.
