How freakin' gorgeous is this candy-pink cashmere sweater? I almost shrieked when I saw it while shopping with Hilary this weekend. I tried to get her to buy it (note: she bought some other incredibly cool vintage including a fantastic asymmetric blazer thing from Romeo Gigli circa 1989) but she could not be convinced. So I knew I'd have to give it a loving home. My friends, it was designed by Bonnie...

Photo: Colin Robertson/www.tommy-smith.co.uk Call it a landmark moment for jazz education in Scotland. Friday October 2nd, the Concert Hall of the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama, Renfrew Street, Glasgow, 1pm, as spotted by the eagle eyes of the Byas’d opinion blog. Saxophonist and composer Tommy Smith (above) has just brought to fruition a long-term aim. After striving for many [...]...

Let’s be honest, anything the SNP announced today would have been shouted down by the swivel eyed experts in selling their granny for political gain, but by axing the Glasgow Airport Rail Link the SNP have really got the backs up of many of the West Coast New Labour MSP’s. Half of the reason for this is of course this was something of a vanity project for New Labour. All along there was...

Logging in from hotel, which has free internet access. How civilised. We’re up in bonny Scotland for Liam’s First Holy Communion, staying at a hotel round the corner from Ali. Yesterday was idyllic. Weather was perfect. The service in St Mirin’s cathedral was really good. I can’t believe how well-behaved the kids were. After the [...]

My grandmother lives in Renfrew, Scotland. Renfrew is distinguished not only by a huge amount of history and a lot of ye olde Scottish architecture, but also by the fact that it's the nearest ‘town’ for Glasgow Airport. Renfrew, more or less, *is* Glasgow Airport. So this makes visiting Gran relatively straight forward, provided [...]
