Westcountry-born science fiction writer Sir Arthur C Clarke has died in Sri Lanka at the age of 90. Sir Arthur, the son of an English farming family, was born in Minehead, Somerset, in 1917. He wrote more than 100 books, including the seminal 2001: A Space Odyssey.
