Venturing further afield, to the very edge of Somerset where land meets the Bristol Channel, we visited Minehead and Dunster on a sunny and warm Friday. Minehead was a revelation to me. I've not visited since I was a child and only had vague memories of the beach. We arrived in sunshine and found ourselves in the delightfully old fashioned "The Avenue" which is reminiscent of main streets...

Here are some photos of places we went to during our Summer holidays. Some of us went abroad, but some of us went on holiday in the UK. Can you spot the most popular area for holidays in the UK? Hello, I'm Maisie. I am the middle size one in the photo. We went to Disneyworld in the USA. It was great fun. Hi, I'm Erin. I went on holiday to Butlins holiday village in Minehead, Somerset. It's in the South...

The Fall front man Mark E. Smith once called Pavement a “rip-off” of his prolific post-punk band, but he may have changed his tune now that the ‘90s slacker rock quintet is reunited and curating its own festival for All Tomorrow’s Parties . The show, which will take place from May 14-16 next year in Minehead, Somerset, is set to include The Fall, as well as German krautrockers...

Both May weekends for the ATP festivals have had their curators announced now. For those not in the know, these are the All Tomorrow’s Parties festivals which have been running for ten years now, initially at Camber Sands and now at the Butlins Holiday Camp in Minehead on the Somerset coast. More recently they have gone global, staging festivals in Australia and New York, as well as releasing...

October in Somerset - Saturday pm On return to the campsite we had lunch and then got the site directories out and started planning our 2010 trips!!! Minehead CC site is a fantastic little site (approx 50 pitches in small cul-de-sacs!). This is a site that I wish we could pick up and move to somewhere special.

October in Somerset - Saturday am With Paddy still suffering with his arthritis it wasn't fair to expect him to walk into Minehead and back so after a short walk around the site dog walk we left him 'home alone' and wandered into Minehead for an hour or so.

October in Somerset - Friday We spent most of the morning waiting for the jobs to be done on our motorhome. We were supplied with a courtesy car so drove to the local garden centre for a cooked breakfast (highly recommended!) and then visited Highbridge to have a nose around their new motorhomes. Nothing caught our eye!!! Later that day we headed to the Minehead CC site where we pitched up and spent...

I cannot believe we are almost halfway though October, it seems no time at all since this year started. But then again, we have had another busy year. A quick check with Glyn confirms we have commitments all this week. Looking back, I note we had holidays in Woolacombe in April, Italy in May, Pittenweem (Fife, Scotland) in August, Alicante (Spain) in September, we are off to Cornwall soon for 5 days....

The ongoing porocess of writing volume one of the Exeter City complete A to Z of players book continues apace, and it is always an addes bonus to talk to a former Grecian. The latest contact made was with former defender, Michael Lane. It was only due to the 'detective' work of Tony Ellis that we were able to track Lane down, who now lives in the Somerset village of Hockworthy. Lane was an apprentice...

That I don’t mind, but the wretched A39 from Bridgwater to Minehead needs scrapping and making into a dual carriage way, all the way – it’s entire length. Do it the Spanish way – just say that’s what’s going to happen, then make it happen! For nearly two whole hours I spent travelling from Bristol to this quaint little village just outside Dunster – it was...

Went back down to Somerset for a couple of days to see my parents. Who read this blog! Hello parents! For a day out we went to Watersmeet , on the edge of Exmoor, North Devon, where I had a little walk from Farley Water down to Lynmouth. As you can see, it’s all waterfalls and original woodland with the trees all gnarled with age. It’s one of the most beautiful places in the world and should...
