In a recent Dorset Echo poll a predictable high number of voters, voted for the return of Floats to Weymouth Carnival. The Carnival has been critised in the past couple of years since the Floats were banned. So much so the pole was in fact 96% in favour. Now I said predictable..... but 96% is very high indeed precentage in favour for any pole.
Dorset has much to offer and the Weymouth Holiday Parks are an ideal place to stay when you are away in this wonderful part of the UK. This post brings you details of one of the outstanding park locations in this area (Chesil), there are other parks that may interest you as well so take a look from any of the links to find out more details. Below is the video review for the Chesil Holiday Park and...
Weymouth FC in its current format is dead. Let me be crystal clear on my position on this. For me I cannot see the club continuing in its current format especially under Chris Ryan. The more I hear about this guy and his cohort, the less interested I am in him taking the club on. For me a new club is the only way to end this mess once and for all and for this to happen I am calling for the following...
On Wednesday morning I chaired our District Probationers Committee, which is responsible for offering support, encouragement and guidance to those ministers who are in their first two years of ministry prior to ordination. Listening to the stories of these amazing people is always a real privilege: anyone who doubts the existence of God would do well to ponder the evidence of those who have made major...
A policeman was fined £225 for ‘hanging’ a police dog by it’s lead over a 5 foot wall when the dog refused to jump over it. The Daily Mail reports how PC Mark Edgar, 36, thought that German Shepherd Hax, needed more training and took him round an obstacle course while on duty at Weymouth Police Station, Dorset, in April. He used two hands to pick up the dog and suspend the dog,...
For the weekend, Kim and I were Dorset bound. Kim has entered a series of costal runs, so we are set for a different costal location once a month. This month the run was around Lyme Regis, so we were headed for a B&B in Piddletrenthide in Dorset. The plan, since I needed to get some training rides done, was for Kim to drive to Lyme Regis in the morning as I set off for a 5 hour ride, do her run...
In October 1996, Weymouth Bay was home to a fleet of ramshackle Russian factory ships, and Weymouth harbour was crowded with fishing boats, a large proportion of which came from the Scottish east coast. The fishing boats offloaded their catch onto the factory ships. The Scottish trawlermen introduced Irn Bru to various Weymouth bars, not least of which being The Moorings, where we ferry people used...
today i did something i have wanted to do for years~ i took the plunge and bought myself a pair of Birkenstocks...almost like these, a kind of browny leather. years ago i read a book in which a hippyish character was wearing a pair and they sounded so lovely and comfortable i coveted a pair for my very own. since having swine flu my m.e has been much worse and even my lovely handmade for me green boots...
I would say "why on earth would anyone spread a rumour to the local media concerning whether or not the club would be leaving the Wessex Stadium to ground share with Dorchester"... but I have been doing TerrasBlog too long now not to know why. And I suspect you have all be reading TerrasBlog for too long not to understand how those on the fringes of Weymouth FC operate. Maybe the Dorset...

On Dorset FACTS Just when I thought that the whole FACTS thing had run its course, my local rag draws my attention to the forthcoming Olympic Games and its need for FACT-y goodness. In a little over 1,000 days, you see, Weymouth and Portland will be playing host to the world as the sailing venue for the 2012 Games. And to celebrate it, the organisers have issued a call for FACTS about Dorset. "...

On restless spirits Our local gang of paranormal investigators, meddling with dark, dark forces of which they know nothing have hit the local press with their plans for a Hallowe'en ghostbusting extravaganza. This, essentially, involves visiting a number of locations in the South Dorest area and poking them with their best ghost-poking sticks until something dreadful happens, for eg: the Old Dark Ones...
