Catching Up ...

Well ... catching up with what? Catching up first of all with family for a very special 90th birthday party at the weekend. Mum's sister-in-law, my aunt, had a wonderful party at her home in Northamptonshire - Stoke Bruerne, to be precise. Those of you who enjoy narrow boat holidays, live in Northamptonshire or have an interest in the waterways of Britain will have heard of Stoke Bruerne , I'm sure....

Monday Bank Holiday - a little trip out

We went for a very lazy day today; getting up at around lunchtime (me, not Chris!); reading and generally 'going with the flow'; and then at 4pm deciding to take a trip to a tea-shop at Burton Bradstock. It's an easy and smooth half hour from home, with a navigable beach and beach path on which to stroll. It was a very pleasant and tiring walk, after which we refuelled with a Dorset cream tea and Darjeeling....

Two Days at Barrington Court, a Holiday at Chavoncy sur la Mare, a new car and a visit to Wales!

I was left in the very capable hands of his new "apprentice" Kate Churchill who did a wonderful...

Add some uplifting (?) and erosion and you get something very unique. It feels like the setting of the closing sequence of Planet...

Bridport and Burton Bradstock.

I'd been battling with a cough/cold all week, the redecorating of our landing and trying to fit in sewing time whenever I could, so the weekend was very much looked forward to. Hubby and I decided to take a drive down into Dorset and found ourselves in the town of Bridport, as recommended by Hen on her wonderful vintagey blog. We started off with lunch in the Beach and Barnicott Restaurant which is...
