Walking over the M5 flyover on Tithebarn Lane Exeter, Devon. A binaural field recording taken on 4th August 2009. This is on my lunch break walking route - most of the route is more picturesque than the motorway flyover though! Motorway Traffic by BinauralDiaries

It's been a long day...... I was up at the crack of dawn, the Evo was off for some suspension felting. I fired up the beast and headed off south westerly along the A303 and the M5 to Exeter. Damned fine bunch of blokes down there make some of the most amazing suspension kit in the whole World. They supply a lot of the World Rally Teams with professional race suspension. The engineering is sublime....

Brit actress Emma Thompson has said that historic city Exeter in Devon is a place where BNP leader Nick Griffin “would feel very comfortable” in as it has so few black faces. Thompson, 50, revealed that her adopted son, Rwandan-born Tindyebwa Agaba, known to the family as ‘Tindy’, had a “rough” time as a student at [...]

Jerry and Sue Barr have sent me this report of the CEL Conference on Transition Towns last Saturday: "An inspiring conference on Saturday 7th November brought like minded Christians together from across the country at St Mary's Church in Ottery St Mary, Devon. Appropriately, most travelled by train: we were met at Exeter St David’s and bussed to the venue in the Parish church, a beautiful...

On hearing I went to Exeter College, people often beam with delight and say something like ‘Oh Excellent! I went to Oxford too…’, before their faces fall when I explain that I went to Exeter College in Devon, rather than the Oxford College. When wasting away time on Youtube this evening I was amused to find [...]

It says a lot for the jump racing faithful that more than usual of them turned out at the top of a rainswept Devon hill on a chilly, gloomy midweek afternoon just to watch a horse not compete in a race. The draw was Denman, brought along to Exeter for a day out by trainer Paul Nicholls ahead of his seasonal comeback in the Hennessy Gold Cup 17 days hence at Newbury.

We are not actually in Devon, just for clarity, but in Concord, Washington, Tyne & Wear. I happen to know Concord, which is both ill-named and if one is honest, probably at the negative end of the architecturally charming list. But I won’t hear a word against the people of Concord, who are frequently wonderful, [...]
