A bagpiper hailed a D-day hero was presented with a model today of a statue to be put up in his honour by the French. Bill Millin, from Dawlish, Devon, will be immortalised in a 10ft bronze statue near where he braved German bullets to pipe allied troops ashore during the invasion of Normandy on 6 June 1944.
