Here in Bristol we like to have lots of parties and get pissed up on Cider, Red Stripe and Rum as soon as the summer kicks in. The best party of all in my opinion is Saint Pauls Carnival. I only went down there for a couple of hours this year and avoided total carnage. It was great to experience all the sights smells and sounds though on an amazing sunny day. Reminds me also of this piece I painted...

As marchers assembled in advance of the 10:30 a.m. kickoff, Ismoilov and his cameraman, Makhmadrabbi Ismoilov, a relative, walked past floats toward the corner of Hope and Chestnut Streets, the official start of the parade. With them was producer Antony A. Botto, an employee of the U.S. Department of State, which awarded the filmmakers a $26,000 grant for the documentary, whose main theme is small-business...

I popped by Bristols smallest galley - Friend & Co the other day and checked out Saintys work. I really like it, it's kind of dark and I like how most of it done in black and white with a few splashes of red. Although Sainty is a boy who draws, he is not part of Boys Who Draw but part of the What? collective.

Ish. Apologies for the short report previously, I was hanging out for the 2 days after the race, then been busy at work. Finished on the dz at 11 last night and came straight to the summer ball, having spent 20 minutes trying to squeeze in to my mess dress trousers. Finished at 5 after lots of beer and dancing, back at work after lunch - carnage. But to the race! Having had fun at Newcastle Rat Race...

Please join me in welcoming Gov. Sarah Palin as she guests posts at Jesus General once again -- JC Ok, there's been a lot of speculation in the liberal, secular press about why I decided to set the State of Alaska free. Some are saying it's because I'm under investigation for getting my house built for next to nothing in return for granting construction contracts. Those people are wrong, and I'm going...

Makes sense to me (H/T: Cold Fury ): In states far from the national spotlight, politics still attracts normal people. You're a mayor or a state senator or even the governor, but you lead a normal life. The local media are tough on you, but they know you, they live where you live, they're tough on the real you, not on some caricature cooked up by a malign alliance of late-night comics who'd never heard...
