A few months ago it was brought to my attention that there’s oil in the ground under Oxted in Surrey. Maybe not for long, because it is being mined. I wonder what effect this mining is having on our groundwater? Another aspect to the story is that Mo Fayed has claimed some of the proceeds as they are extracting about 9% of the oil from under his land. This week I am travelling to Sweden and Denmark....

I’m back in the UK and able to do my cycling ride from Oxted up to Woldingham and back. This view of Oxted, in Surrey, also takes in Kent and East and West Sussex (Sussexes').
