Phil Vickery returns to prop up England

If there was one simple message from England's camp in Bagshot, Surrey, yesterday it was this: do not underrate Australia's scrum. All sorts of verbal sparring goes on in the week before an international, not least between these countries, but England are genuine in their belief that reducing Australian scrums to matchwood in the recent past does not mean that they will do the same at Twickenham on...

By Mitch Phillips - Analysis BAGSHOT - A lot has changed in the England camp but with Martin Johnson in charge and training now back at their Surrey base there is a reassuring sense of a return to the good old days. As a player, Johnson bestrode En

England’s rugby team returns to Bagshot

Great news. England’s rugby team is returning to Pennyhill Park Hotel & Spa as their training headquarters. It’s got to be good for us in Surrey Heath. NEW! Friday Village Focus - Deepcut first

The Borough of Surrey Heath is made up of one town, Camberley, and a number of urban and semi-rural villages; Bagshot, Bisley, Chobham, Deepcut, Frimley, Frimley Green, Lightwater, Mytchett, West End, and Windlesham. Hopefully, on successive Fridays, I’ll provide a very, very brief overview of each village and provide some web links so you can find [...]

Pennyhill Park Hotel, Bagshot, Surrey

Finding Pennyhill Park was easy – when I printed out directions from the hotel’s website it offered a neat one-page document with regional and local map and comprehensive directions. It’s a simple service, but thoughtful for first-time guests.

Footpaths and mileposts in Bagshot

Bagshot has plenty of history, once having coaching inns and a royal hunting lodge [royal connections remain]. What I’ve noticed is the number of historic stone mileposts on the A30 London Road, and the number of interconnecting footpaths. I must ask the curators in Surrey Heath Museum why there are so many. I’ve been canvassing in Bagshot [...]
