Good King Hal, mere nanoseconds before being savagely hoofed in the shins by another delighted fan. Visit Kent came calling again! They have been very good to me of late with them using me at shows at such diverse places as Dover Cruise Terminal, the ExCel Arena in London and the Kent County Showground at Detling . Today was another new place for me to visit for them, and that was Canterbury Cathedral....

It's the last weekend of summer . Well it must be according to the weather forecast, as surely it can't go on any longer. With air temperatures dropping in the evenings now if it gets above 16degC then it's officially "warm and pleasant" to be doing sport. Saturday and Sunday therefore are perfect conditions for a nice triathlon or half marathon.. I'm hoping that my achillies sorts itself...

We headed down south this weekend, visiting family in Kent and Eastbourne and clipping in a quilt show at Hever Castle as well. We had a lovely couple of days, were spoilt rotten, ate far too much and came home loaded with goodies - home-grown tomatoes and courgette, plums, cakes, plants, jam, you name it, we've acquired it! We've put the cakes in the freezer for now as we've eaten so many goodies...

There's a definite chill in the air in England, and it seems that the long, hot summer we were promised, never made it to our shores - as many of my British blogging colleagues have already noted. In fact, there has been more rain this year than I remember in other years and looking at the pitiable list of UK gardens that I've succeeded in visiting .... this just confirms that I wasn't able to get...

Pots at Hever Castle in Kent I am enjoying being back at home and pottering around in the garden; seeing how everything has grown while I've been away. But I'm sad the holiday is over. Phil is already starting to get stressed about returning to the hell that is his job and I'm worrying about our next weddings. Holidays always come to an end and you realise your problems and anxieties are still there...

(this image is from http://www.hoppingdowninkent.org.uk/intro4.php) The wanderer returns... We got back late last night from our holiday in Kent. We decided to travel back Friday night as Phil & Kate have Everton's first match of the season to attend and it was a good decision because we now have the whole weekend to recover from our holiday! We had a great time although I think the girls are starting...

Fiona Harper has always been a sucker for a good castle, right from the days when she used to don her best dressing-up clothes and swoon as Sleeping Beauty pricking her finger on a spindle or pretended to be Cinderella fleeing from the ball. Today, she investigates some of the romantic castles that regularly inspire her. I am extremely lucky. I live in London, less than an hour’s drive from some...

The CCBF (Caked Crusader’s Boyfriend) and I recently had a lovely day out at Hever Castle . Whilst browsing in the gift shop (I have never grown out of my passion for gift shops – often the best bit of the trip!) I came across this jar of locally made honey. I think the bees must be very happy working in the beautiful Kent countryside and you can taste their contentment in the honey –...
