Birdwatcher is saved from mud

CROSBY A 75-year-old birdwatcher was rescued by an RNLI hovercraft after he became stuck waist-deep in mud for 45 minutes. The man, who has a heart condition, became trapped near the entrance to the River Alt in Crosby, Merseyside, after walking out on an outlet pipe and stepping on to the sand.
