With the by-election dominating proceedings in recent weeks it's easy to forget that we have now entered the final year of administration under Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council. A couple of weeks back, the first meeting of the Cheshire East Unitary Shadow Council took place at Crewe's Municipal Buildings. A fitting place but will Crewe emerge as the best location to establish a base for the new authority?...

Update from Saturn, the restored Shropshire Union Fly boat that is! As part of the Cheshire's Floating Garden Festival the boat was pulled by Bilbo (big horse) from Audlem to Nantwich on Sunday. The lovely vessel seen here with that mayoral party who have enjoyed far too much blog publicity over the last week ( photo from TimP ), but I suppose they do work hard for local charities and organisations....
