Nina and Stephens Wedding - Longhirst Hall

Friday was the start of one of the busiest periods of my career and I was lucky enough to shoot Nina and Stephens wedding at Longhirst Hall in Morpeth, Northumberland. Here's just a teeny selection of my favourites from the day. The beautiful bride in her amazing wedding dress. The adorable couple outside the fairytale venue of Lindhirst Hall. A candid moment capturing Nina and her gorgeous daughter....

After the flood, there's the flood guide...

As I mentioned, I was in Morpeth last week, leaving just before the floods struck the place. Today, I wrote a Flood Guide for the people of Northumberland (a sort of 'souvenir' publication with hints and tips on what to do next time the River Wansbeck breaks its banks). I find myself penning the most peculiar things to earn a crust and fend off the bailiffs. Essentially, 20 pages can be boiled down...

How an ancient town was ruined by worst flood for 45 years

The ancient market town of Morpeth in Northumberland was the worst hit by the weekend's torrential downpours. A month's rain fell on the area in a single day, causing the river Wansbeck to burst its banks and engulf the town in two feet of filthy water.

Morpeth Floods Recede

Things are slowly returning to normal in Morpeth following the worst flooding the town has seen in a century. Around 1,000 properties were evacuated yesterday after the River Wansbeck burst its banks, sending water through the streets of the mid-Northumberland town. At the heart of the rescue effort were helicopter crews from A Flight, 202 Squadron based at RAF Boulmer, Northumberland Fire and Rescue...

Five dead after storms lash UK

Emergency services launched an evacuation effort yesterday as the north of England was battered by another day of fierce rainstorms. Morpeth in Northumberland was hit by the worst floods the town has seen since the 1960s as riverbanks burst, forcing 50 families to leave their homes. Lifeboat teams joined the rescue. More than 100 official flood warnings were still in place last night.

Interviewing in Morpeth

I am up in Morpeth, outside County Hall, having just done an interview for the next members' video newsletter in the North East with Jeff Reid. Jeff is the new Leader of the Northumberland County Council. We are now the largest group and Labour are now in third place. The elections gave the Lab Cons 17 seats each but a couple of indies have joined the Con group therefore making Labour the third

An opportunity not a problem

It's always interesting to see public authorities start putting in freedom of information requests themselves. Castle Morpeth Council in Northumberland is making an FOI request to the Department of Communities and Local Government. This follows the department's decision to create a new unitary authority for the entire county, in conflict with Castle Morpeth's wishes. Councillors in Castle Morpeth want...
