A friend has lent me a copy of the 1952 Official Guide to 'The Metropolitan Borough of Camberwell' from the days before Southwark Council when Camberwell had its own Council covering Peckham, Nunhead and of course Camberwell itself. One of the things that struck me is how much manufacturing industry there was in the area then - there's a whole section 'Made in Camberwell'. Not sure much of anything,...

Southwark council are considering introducing a ’saturation zone’ to Clapham, to limit the number of new bars or clubs - and a similar scheme could be imposed on Camberwell too. The deadline for responses to the draft South London Line Route Utilisation Strategy is this Friday. We decided that as well as the petitions it would be best to send one response from all the Southwark Labour councillors as together we all represent the areas of Peckham, Camberwell and Bermondsey affected by the proposed cuts to the South London Line. We've also sent it to the council officers
