ANTI-BNP ACTIVITY IN LONDON

Anti-fascist activists were out on the streets of London today, leafleting in Redbridge in one of two wards where the BNP are standing in council by-elections. The by-elections in Chadwell Heath (Barking & Dagenham) and South Hornchurch (Havering) will both take place on Thursday 3 July. If the BNP win these seats they will be building serious [...]

On Tuesday afternoon a delegation from Romford visited City Hall to deliver a petition calling for the retention of the 500 bus service and an improvement to public transport provision in Havering- atte -Bower. Staff at the hospice and visiting relatives will have no alternative other than to drive. There is also a brand new educational centre at the hospice, which is used by health authorities and medical...

Bill Barazetti - Local Hero

I feel proud that Havering has a connection with the Kinder transport. Bill Barazetti, who did so much to arrange the evacuation of Jewish children from Prague, was a resident of Hornchurch until his death in 2000. His role in the Kinder transport was not known at all until 1990 (but then again neither was Sir Nicholas Winton's). Until very recently there was very little about Mr Barazetti available...
