The last Wedding I photographed in June was a short civil ceremony for Debbie and Julie at Stowmarket Registry Office. I only had a short day available on this date as I had already signed up to attend a summer charity ball in the evening which fitted in perfectly with the length of coverage that Debbie and Julie were after. This day was blessed with blue skies and sunshine and a very happy couple....

A BOTTLE tossed into the North Sea years ago has led to a potential friendship between children in Suffolk and a family in Holland. When the pupils at the Abbots Hall Primary School in Stowmarket put their messages into the sea on December 1 2000 little did they know that it would turn up on Dutch shores more than seven years later and potentially create a unique bond between two countries.

The Morland ward of Eden district council elected an Independent in a byelection on 17 April, taking over a seat previously held by a Conservative. The other byelection saw the Conservatives retaining, for a second time, Stowmarket North and Stowupland division on Suffolk county council.

TRADERS say their community is in danger of becoming a ghost town and moves by supermarket giant to expand on the edge of town will not help. Mid Suffolk District Council is considering whether to grant planning permission for the supermarket in Stowmarket to develop its operation on Cedars Park.

IT'S a ruling that some may think is “quackers” - but people in a Suffolk town have been told not to feed the ducks. Stowmarket Town Council's call for a ban - saying dropping bread for the ducks causes a “serious health and safety hazard” - has divided the community.

A MAYOR worried about under-age drinking and gangs of youths intimidating residents wants to see his town's alcohol ban zone extended. Frank Whittle, Stowmarket town mayor and chairman of Mid Suffolk District Council's licensing committee, also wants heavy fines imposed on off-licences and supermarkets who sell alcohol to young drinkers.

MEN charged with crimes relating to an illegal Suffolk rave which was broken up by 100 police officers have been warned they could face prison. Michael Hodges, 19, from Finborough Road, Stowmarket, and Joshua Barrington-Lee, 22, of Canterbury Close, Ipswich, appeared before Bury St Edmunds magistrates this morning .

POLICE are not treating the death of a man who was found in a back garden as suspicious. Suffolk police received a call from a member of the public just before 5pm today reporting that they could see a body in the back garden of a property in Hillside, Stowmarket.
