Monday morning and before the Ten Town Tour continues I'm at the St.Augustine's Street junction with Deputy Leader of the City Council talking about the work that will soon start here. Ten months work will let traffic OUT of the City from the ring road but incoming traffic will turn left down Magpie Road and then a new link road will take you right into the Anglia Square development and a new supermarket...

May I introduce Mr Trevor Hobden, lately of Canada House Partnership, Grammar School Road, North Walsham, Norfolk and his balanced approach to billing. Mr Hobden has been struck off the roll and will have to close his new firm, Convey First in Norwich, because of his dishonest (and failing that, grossly negligent) actions. A few samples [...]

Matthew and Amanda were married a couple of weeks ago at Edingthorpe church near North Walsham. Matthew runs a digger hire firm and used one of the company vehicles to drive him and his Best Man to the church. Apparently it raised a few eyebrows and smiles going round the roundabouts at North Walsham! It was [...]

Very exciting - I'm off to Norfolk for the weekend and will be attending a sashiko workshop with Jenni Dobson at the Quilters' Guild regional day on Saturday. Jenni's also agreed to come to Dayspringers in North Walsham to do a mini workshop at the monthly meeting on Friday. Not too sure what to expect, I've got a requirements list but no picture of what we'll be making so it'll be a surprise, a good...

My last full week on holiday before going back to work, and an attempt to get a bit of variety in. A trip back to my home town of North Walsham on Wednesday, from where I walked to Edingthorpe, round via Knapton and back along the Paston Way. Bugger all about bird-wise, but if you like churches then I heartily recommend Knapton, it has one of the best examples of ornate roof carvings in the county....

The objective for day four was a trip on the Broads. To accomplish this we drove to nearby (ish) Wroxham... via a slight detour when we missed the turning as the sign pointed the other way - I knew I should take my SatNav! We booked places on a cruise boat (small altercation between parents as to whether we should self drive or cruise) and then after a small wait we were off down the broads and back...

I had a great time away in Norfolk last week and, among other things, managed to get my Lynne Edwards' (book 2) Sampler Quilt top finished. I'm only doing nine blocks as that's the right size to go over the sofa but I think I'll do the other blocks eventually, it's a great way to learn. While I was away I joined the Dayspringers Quilting group in North Walsham. What a great group of very friendly people....

Here's my weekly update just for your amusement George! On the whole the week went well. I was pleased to get my article about Cley Next the Sea published and, in the research, finding out that one of my fave singers James Blunt has his roots there! I'm now trying to decide where to go next - history behind another local village, biography of local gal or bor (Norfolk for boy!), or maybe something...
