Relish is a new venture for Julie Mace at Dalegate Market in Burnham Deepdale on the north Norfolk coast. Julie has been trading as an independent jewellery designer and importer for 15 years, based in Old Hunstanton. The move to Burnham Deepdale is a step change in her business and one she is really enjoying. “I’ve always loved visiting Dalegate Market and when I saw that a space had...
Hi I hope you have been following Neil's amazing adventures from Maui !! (defo's) Due to work commitments I have not been able to get on the water lately, but hopefully conditions tomorrow will be ok and I can put on my Speedo's and impress you all ! I have just received the UKWA calender of events for 2010. As you may know, Neil and I have been attending the Slalom events in 2009 and will be doing...
Going away in the UK offers you a whole host of options, and whether you are looking to stay in a quiet park location or have a lively holiday with the family it is all there in different park locations. The Holiday Chalet in Norfolk accommodation can be found in a range of holiday parks throughout the area and this is the ideal choice if you want a holiday that has plenty of facilities and good places...
Another good day at Holme today, although slightly dissapointing in terms of grounded migrants considering the reasonably promising conditions. It started on route at Hunstanton, when a Peregrine flew over the car. A seawatch of Gore point produced a cracking Red-necked Grebe close inshore, with a flock of 14 Snow Buntings on the beach and a Kittiwake east. Sewatching of the NOA for several hours was...
Norfolk is one of the best kept holiday secrets in the UK and year on year the area becomes more and more popular, in fact this year the region made it onto the top 10 UK destinations for a holiday list for the first time. The Holiday Parks in Norfolk are something that should be considered as an accommodation choice when you visit this area, and there is plenty of styles for you too choose from. Throughout...
Saturday October 31 Walking in Scuilly decided it. Time to look at lighter gear for holidays at home and abroad. I arrived at Cley Spy intending to buy a Nikon 50 scope, small enough to fit in my pocket. I left with an Opticron 50! So new that there was only one in the shop. My immediate reaction on looking through both was that the Opticron was better optically, brighter and the eyepiece easier to...
After a very exciting Thursday where I started working for Graeae (wheee!) and then raced off to Kings Cross to leap on a train to Kings Lynn I had a wonderfully peaceful weekend in Dersingham. My camera's battery was low and I couldn't find my charger, plus the weather was a bit grotty so I only took photos on our trip to Hunstanton.
One of the most arresting passages in Family Britain, the second instalment of David Kynaston's projected four-volume account of the period 1945-1979, takes in the opening of the controversial Kidbrooke school in Hunstanton, West Norfolk. Designed by the "iconoclastic" young husband-and-wife team of Peter and Alison Smithson, acclaimed by certain architects as a stunning example of the Le...
Back from our time with family in Luxembourg and, as promised, here are some more sketches from my weekend trip with Anita to the north Norfolk coast. We spent the whole day Sunday at Holkham Hall finishing with a yummy pub/hotel dinner on the way back to our caravan. This is a sketch of part of the mansion I enjoyed doing in pen late afternoon seated on a rise above Holkham Hall and sharing the bench...
We had a lot of fun based in Hunstanton, after saving tokens from The Sun for a dirt cheap holiday. Sam and Nana played together after tea on the Friday. On Saturday Nana really enjoyed seeing the wartime parts of the Muckleburgh Collection, and she liked the rest of it as well. A n ice chap offered to take a family photo. There were hordes of ducks on the campsite, and they flocked to any caravan...
Just after 8am Dave, Colin and I were on the cliffs at Hunstanton, Norfolk watching the over night migration continue its westerly direction hugging the coastline. In one hour we managed 9750 Starling, 860 Chaffinch, 100 Meadow Pipit, 100 Skylark, 80 Brambling, 60 Siskin, 3 Whooper Swan and single Rock Pipit and that’s just the ones we could i.d. and logged so we must have missed a lot more....
What did you do with your Saturday? Mine was spent in not-so-sunny Hunstanton, which I was pleased to discover hasn’t changed at all since I holidayed there as a child; same amusement arcades, same fair ground rides, same bizarre shops – the kind which only seem to exist in Norfolk these days – selling everything from knitting needles to out of date crisps. It was like stepping back...

37579 and 37578 rest in Vancouver Avenue on Sunday night. 579 sports the new Kenco advert, the removed poster for 'Dorian Gray' can be seen partly obscuring its replacement ! Photo courtesy of Peter Barclay After several weeks where the King's Lynn school bus stud have remained steadfastly restricted to their Hunstanton trips, today provided some relief.
