POLICE in Essex have arrested a man in connection with a stabbing in the early hours of this morning. AT just before 2am officers were called to a house in Albemarle Street in Harwich where a 20-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of robbery and causing grievous bodily harm.

FIREFIGHTERS were today tackling a chemical spill at an international port in Essex. Crews from Dovercourt, Manningtree and Colchester were called to a ferry terminal in Harwich early this morning.

The Essex Way spans the county: a long-distance footpath which runs from Epping in the south-west to Harwich in the northeast. The route covers a distance of 81 miles, leading walkers through open farmland, ancient woodlands and historic towns along the way. For most, this journey might take a week or so, but keen hikers may be able to navigate the course in just a few days.

COLCHESTER-based soldiers heading out to serve in Afghanistan will not be provided with enough aerial support, local MPs have claimed. North Essex MP Bernard Jenkin, Harwich MP Douglas Carswell and Colchester MP Bob Russell have all spoken out about the ongoing failure to provide enough helicopters to assist troops.
