Daventry, in Northamptonshire, UK, is testing the use of cybercars, which are computer controlled cars. You push a button along the route, and the little electric car comes and picks you up. They follow a pre-programmed route, and use lasers to avoid hitting things. I think these little guys are awesome as hell, and I wish we had them in my town. Who knew Northamptonshire was this exciting? The town of Daventry is currently home to a bunch of driverless cars using lasers to find their way around. They're called Cybercars, and are being pitched as a potential way to increase the use of public transport. It's all part of an EC scheme called CityMobil, with the Cybercars running on a light track, and designed to be used in pedestrianised zones...

This is from Wikipedia. I do hope it is true: Stanley Unwin died in 2002 in Daventry, England. He is buried in the churchyard at Long Buckby, Northamptonshire with his wife, who pre-deceased him. Their gravestone has the epitaph, "Reunitey in the heavenly-bode - Deep Joy".
