Final Thoughts: This is one of the maybe 20 films in the top 250 (as rated on IMDB) finally checked off of my “haven’t seen” list and it does not disappoint. They don’t make movies like this anymore and maybe they can’t. CLOSER is very much WHO’S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF?’s tonal brother, but I’d say there’s even more hope in CLOSER, which is undoubtedly a very dark movie, than in VIRGINIA WOOLF....
