Nagin, speaking a day after a national study ranked the city as the most violent in the country in 2007, said police chief Warren Riley is doing everything, "cutting edge," that can be done to make the city safer.

Ray Nagin on corruption and focusing on excessive use of city cars as its best example of dysfunctional government. Blogger Mominem of Tin Can Trailer Trash offered this better list in an email discussion of the city’s dysfunction, and called us a Failed State. I don’t know about “broken windows”...

Mayor Ray Nagin stated that the decision to bring in these hospitals was a huge accomplishment, and one which will surely help the city recover. The VA will be working with the state of Louisiana and Louisiana State University on the hospitals.
