One was a nondescript silver Toyota Sienna, the other an old Dodge Caravan decorated with Stars of David and sporting a roof-top ad for a synagogue. Guess which [...]

I was basically ok, but I seem to have subconsciously compensated by using my other leg more somehow because my other leg is sorer than usual. post-Yom Kippur (or any fast)...

It wasn't included in the Holy See's Synod Bulletins, but Monday's fulltext from Shear Yashuv Cohen, the grand rabbi of Haifa and first Jewish cleric to address a Synod of Bishops, has surfaced. Snips: It is indeed a privilege and a rare honor to be invited to this Assembly as a special guest, representing the Jewish Faith and the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. I believe this is the first...

It's been a while since I spoke about my beloved, Benedict XVI . Here is a small blogpost to rectify that. One of the best things about Pope Benedict, is that he has continued the warm relationship forged by John Paul the Great towards the Jewish community. In fact, the Chief Rabbi of Haifa became the first rabbi to speak before a Vatican Synod this Monday. Don't think he had only honeyed words...

Israel - A halachic breakthrough by Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv, allows patients to drink as much “stale” water as they wish during Yom Kippur. The innovative ruling was issued following years during which patients were instructed by rabbis to only drink small amounts of water not exceeding 9 cc and consume them once every 15 minutes. [...]

As he drove over the causeway the morning before Hurricane Ike, Rabbi Jimmy Kessler knew the message he repeatedly had given his congregation was going to be severely tested. "It's people that matter, not things," he had told them for years.
