I didn't think it was still possible for me to be disappointed in elected officials... John Reid Edwards' admission of an affair proves they can never be trusted. I was actually somewhat impressed by the improvement in his rhetoric in the 2008 primaries. I should never have fallen for that Southern Baptist-sounding* accent. P.S. Too Conservative wins the prize for the first post I saw in Virginia trying...

Celtic minded people all over the globe are in outrage over what appears to be a blatant act of sectarianism by 2 bigotted pandas. Celebrity fans like Rod Stewart, Bono, Michelle McManus, Juan Ghuy, Dr Death John Reid and the Japanese Prime Minister have came out and slammed these panda’s for inciting a sensitive [...] ShareThis

Celtic Chairman and hate figure for a sizeable majority of the Celtic support, John Reid has announced that he is to break with traditions and have Tommy Burns’ widow Rosemary Burns unfurl the League Championship Flag at Celtic Park on the 10th August before they kick off the new campaign against St. Mirren. “It’s a huge [...]

Two very rich men (Michael Bloomberg, Mayor of New York, and Bill Gates, founder of Microsoft) pledged £250m last week to fund a worldwide anti-smoking campaign. I wonder how that sits with our former Secretary of State for Health, Dr John Reid, who once said that the working class "had every right" to smoke. Smoking kills – and it's generally the poor, rather than the rich, who succumb – and it costs...

I GUESS nobody can argue with the fact that Brown has been a "fucking disaster" . Compared to Glasgow East, the debacle at Crewe and Nantwich looks like a blip. In addition, despite Brown's regular calls for unity I thought it was interesting to hear that John Reid (Chairman of Celtic Football Club) was largely absent in the campaign. I keep hearing how Labour ran a good campaign but concerns over...

Andrew's post below about the Glasgow East by-election, John Reid, and the wonderfully named Celtic footballer Jan Vennegor of Hesselink puts me in mind of a variation of the old footballing joke. Q: Who's the most unpopular man in football? A.: The fan in the stands at Celtic Park who shouts: "Give us a 'V'....."

I hear John Reid has been rallying to the Labour cause in Glasgow East. Despite his obvious (private) sense of "I told you so" about Gordon Brown's problems he has done his bit to stop a catastrophe in this Labour heartland. He has been canvassing outside Parkhead, the home of Celtic FC, which is a big part of this constituency. Reid, now free of the thrust of Cabinet life and almost daily Today programme...

All right so it’s not mine; it’s Gordon’s. But with all the rumours going around of a summer Cabinet reshuffle I thought I’d get in with my bid for what a new Cabinet should look like: 1. David Miliband as Chancellor 2. John Reid back as Defence Secretary (without the Scotland Secretary portfolio) 3. Jacqui Smith as Foreign [...]

Poodle's lackey John Reid is chairman, the largest shareholder and quasi-owner Dermot Desmond has business interests in casinos, bookmaking, investment and underwriting, banking, oil, healthcare and airports, chief executive Peter Lawwel comes from a big pharma, chemicals and mining background, and manager Gordon Strachan shows an inappropriate nationalistic and, some might say racist bias, in his...

The Home Office is improving, it's official. You might not think so from reading this week's headlines about Jacqui Smith's twists and turns over knife crime, but a Whitehall audit claims big improvements across the board since a damning review two years ago, when John Reid, as incoming Home Secretary, said that its immigration side was “not fit for purpose”.
