MSNBC's Rachel Maddow appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno last night, her first late night talk show since taking over the 9pmET hour and, as Leno said, "doubling the ratings." Leno asks Maddow about her role as "commentator" which allows her to add "a little bias." "I think of it as a point of view," she said. Leno took a shot at picking her political affiliation....

There have been more than the usual number of out lesbians on NBC's The Tonight Show with Jay Leno in the last few weeks. And by "more than usual" I mean three (that's a 300% increase from zero, the average of most talk shows that aren't actually hosted by a lesbian). So I thought I'd bring you a round-up of their interviews, for your weekend enjoyment. Last night, Rachel Maddow was on The...

Can't find the bit on YouTube yet.... Last night, Jay Leno introduced a new deck of cards, modeled after the "AlQuaeda 52" which appeared early in the Iraq War. Leno's deck differed a bit: it offered pictures of various investment-bankers--the Presidents of Lehman, Countrywide Mortgage, Bear/Stearns, and AIG. During the bit, Leno mentioned that someone had walked up to the former...

It seems like Bill Maher was just on the Tonight Show a couple of weeks ago. Actually, it was the end of August. Still, two appearances in just over two months is too much. Naturally, Jay Leno and Maher talked about presidential politics. Maher said that John McCain is getting desperate. His new slogan: "McCain - the White Obama." "I think he's desperate to get to the White House because the...

I asked this last November and sadly, it still applies. If those shows have any reason to exist, it's to whore for NBC series. So where's the service? I'm thinking of this now because The Riches has been cancelled . IMO this is another show that, like Dirt (also on FX), was potentially great but got shot down by the writers' strike. But, at least I can't claim the network didn't support The Riches...

Paul Newman might be best known as an Oscar-winning actor, but he was also a darn good racing driver. I met him when he was spending much of his time acting but I didn’t get a chance to interact with him. I knew him better later in life when cars were his main love. He didn’t really like to talk about show business but when you talked cars or racing his eyes lit up.
