The offspinner Jason Krejza is in doubt for the second Test against New Zealand in Adelaide after suffering an ankle injury at training. Krejza limped off the Adelaide Oval with the assistance of the Australia team physio Alex Kountouris following a mishap during a fielding drill.
Cameron White has set his sights on proving his bowling ability with Victoria after being axed from Australia's Test squad. White played all four Tests in the recent series in India but he struggled to have any real impact with the ball and Jason Krejza's stunning 12-wicket debut left White surplus to requirements for Thursday's Gabba Test against New Zealand.
The 4th Test is turning out to be a cracker. Australia, with a draw not an option, are behind the 8-ball all the way but managed to keep themselves in the game on Day 2 largely thanks to Jason Krejza : 08 i a t4 d2b_to_DivX_clip0 Many are asking where was this guy before and why wasn't he selected earlier? Watching Jason Krejza on the second day was even more addictive than during the first. Attacking spinners know they will get hit in the search for wickets and Krejza received a lot of success and punishment. Australia's selectors will look at Cameron White, who is usually considered a batting allrounder, to fill the spinner's spot following a tour-ending injury to Bryce McGain and the poor start of Jason Krejza in the warm-up game in Hyderabad.
Simon Katich opened the batting, after Phil Jaques was left out for the warm-up match against the Board President's XI side. So he will almost definitely open the batting with Hayden. Jason Krejza's performance outing (0/123 from 20 overs & 0/76 from 11 overs) was obviously a bit of a shock to the system. As a result of these two developments, I think Australia will go in for a 4-man quick bowling...
Left with minimal spinning resources after Bryce McGain was ruled out of this tour, Ricky Ponting has said that either Jason Krejza or Cameron White will play in the first Test against India .
Jason Krejza, Australia's uncapped offspinner, has won an endorsement from his former mentor, the Sri Lanka coach Trevor Bayliss, ahead of the India Test series.
I’ve returned to something resembling civilisation. At least, that appears to be the case, but for the head-scratching news of Australia’s two new spin wizards, Bryce McGain (a pensionable 36) and Jason Krejza (25). Who are these people and what and where is Shane Warne’s legacy? So much for him inspiring a clutch of angry [...]
