Defending champion David Nalbandian advanced to the Paris Masters semifinals by beating fourth-seeded Andy Murray 7-6 (3), 6-3 Friday, and No. 2 Roger Federer pulled out of his quarterfinal against James Blake because of a back injury. The eighth-seeded Nalbandian sealed the victory with a drop shot and will now meet either top-ranked Rafael Nadal or 2006 champion Nikolay Davydenko.
