The last survivor of the sinking of the battle cruiser HMS Hood in the Second World War has died. Ted Briggs, 85, from Fareham in Hampshire, passed away at the Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth on Saturday. Are handbrakes going out of fashion? I did more driving than average last week because I was on holiday near Petersfield in Hampshire (travelling to various attractions each day) and was surprised how many times I noticed people obviously juggling clutch, brakes and accelerator at traffic lights. You can see their cars edge forward and (more disconcerting, especially if you are behind them) back....
