... The team was fortunate to recover and get a better receiver in Wes Chandler. The Chargers sent end Fred Dean, one of the best pass rushers in history, to the 49ers. They didn't recover from that one. Dean just made the Hall of Fame. Jack Kemp went to Buffalo and the Chargers got a few pennies in return. Drew Brees, the Chargers' Pro Bowl quarterback, left with very little compensation....
