... six years later. Noordam glided across the harbor to the cruise ship dock in front of downtown Fort de France. In 1990 Tim and I spent one night at a hotel some distance upslope from the dock, where the bar’s patio commanded a broad view of the harbor. ... I have no plan for Martinique, other than perhaps debarking and taking a short walk on the Fort de France waterfront. At Tortola there is a snorkel launch that runs from Nanny Cay to Norman Island. I suppose I shall assent to that. If I don’t feel well enough for swimming (or if I get cramps) at least I will have seen those waters close up, one last time.
