Baseball people were already aware that Jays starter Dustin McGowan was likely gone for the '08 season. So, the confirmation yesterday was no surprise. But the additional announcement by the Jays that "out for the year" has now become McGowan's best-case scenario ... that is a jarring blow to the organization.
